The Mexican parody 'Salvando al Soldado Perez' will come to some 300 US theaters this summer. This movie produced by Lemon Films and starring actor Miguel Rodarte is now one of the year's box office blockbusters in Mexico. The film tells the story of a group of Mexican narcos that go to Irak in the middle of the war to look for, and save, one of their brothers who was pronounced M.I.A. (Missing in Action).
Now that Bin Laden was killed, the Middle East war subject is fresh in our minds. Amidst the seriousness of the actual events happening, it will be refreshing to get a comedic twist to the whole drama of the war with this film. What's interesting is that now on Soldado Perez's Twitter page, fans of the film are tweeting that Comando Tomate from the film was the one that killed Osama, stating: "The rumor is out that Comando Tomate from Soldado Perez was the one that killed Osama!" This is a sensitive thing to say, but in my opinion, it could be a great marketing strategy to gain notoriety for the film!
What do you think? Is it wise that the people behind 'Salvando al Soldado Perez' use Bin Laden's death to their advantage in promoting the film?
